Uzbekistan and China plan to reduce administrative hurdles for road freight

The matter was discussed on September 23 by Uzbekistan’s Transport Minister Ilhom Mahkamov and China’s Transport Minister Liu Wei during talks on expanding bilateral cooperation in transport.

After the meeting, the two sides signed a protocol introducing amendments and additions to the agreement between the governments of Uzbekistan and China on international road transport.

The document is meant to reinforce the legal basis for road transportation and improve conditions for national carriers. Its implementation is expected to broaden opportunities for Uzbek and Chinese companies to carry out international freight operations, cut administrative barriers and boost bilateral and transit cargo flows.

The ministers also talked about expanding international road freight, raising cargo volumes and improving transport and logistics connections between the two countries.

Civil aviation was another topic of the talks. The sides discussed increasing the number of flights between cities in Uzbekistan and China, widening flight routes and creating additional opportunities for passenger and cargo transportation.

Uzbekistan’s Transport Ministry said the new protocol would also help develop international transport corridors linking China with Central Asia and other regions.

The two sides agreed to keep working together to carry out the agreements reached during the meeting.
