Uzbekistan and Adani Group discussed hydropower projects

Uzbekistan and the Adani Group discussed cooperation in the hydropower sector.

The Indian Adani Group expressed its readiness to invest in the construction of new hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) and pumped storage power plants (PSPPs) in Uzbekistan, according to the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan.

Negotiations between the Uzbek delegation, led by the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, and the Adani Group's management took place in Ahmedabad, India. Azimjon Akhmadjanov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC O'zbekgidroenergo, also participated in the discussion.

Adani Group founder Gautam Adani praised the scale of reforms in Uzbekistan's hydropower sector, the industry's investment potential, and the favorable conditions for foreign investors.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the introduction of advanced technologies in hydropower, the construction of new energy facilities, and the implementation of investment projects.

Particular attention was paid to the prospects for the construction of new HPPs and PSPPs in Uzbekistan. Gautam Adani confirmed the corporation's interest in participating in such projects.

The role of hydropower in developing Uzbekistan's green energy sector, ensuring grid stability, and efficiently utilizing renewable energy sources was also discussed.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue working together to develop project cooperation mechanisms, joint investment initiatives, and their subsequent implementation.
