On the eve of his trip to Uzbekistan, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio commented on the decision to head to Samarkand against the backdrop of global world instability, emphasizing that relations with the republic are of strategic importance.
According to the head of the US foreign policy agency, this visit is driven not by crises or problems, but by the intention to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Rubio noted that deepening ties with Uzbekistan and Central Asian countries is one of the key priorities of Washington's foreign policy. As reported by the Department of State, the trip will take place from October 17 to 22 and will include Samarkand, as well as the Indian cities of Mumbai and Jamnagar.
In Samarkand, the US Secretary of State will participate in a "C5+1" ministerial meeting and hold talks with the leadership of Uzbekistan, where expanding trade, attracting private investment, and economic modernization will be discussed.
The head of the State Department is accompanied by a representative commercial delegation, which includes more than 200 American business leaders, marking, as noted, a new stage of business partnership.
It is worth noting that the "C5+1" platform was established in 2015, and its first ministerial meeting was held precisely in Samarkand. More than 10 years later, the diplomatic format returns there to advance joint projects in energy, transport, critical minerals, digital technology, and agriculture.
