Up to 50 kilograms of gold taken from a jewelry factory in France

In France, unknown individuals stole up to 50 kilograms of gold and other valuables from a jewelry factory.

According to reports, the robbery took place on November 3 at a jewelry factory in the city of Besançon. Around 7:00 a.m., five individuals wearing masks and bulletproof vests stormed the factory premises. They fired several shots from long-barreled firearms and intimidated the employees.

During their escape, the robbers intentionally scattered nails on the road. As a result, the tires of a police car and a motorcycle were punctured. The vehicle used by the criminals to escape was later found burned out.

One factory employee was injured as a result of the attack. The prosecutor's office opened an investigation and handed the case over to the organized crime unit. Several precious metal processing companies operate in the city of Besançon. Therefore, the jewelry and precious metal manufacturing sector is frequently targeted by criminals.

In France, back in July, masked individuals broke into the Lalique Museum in Alsace and stole jewelry valued at 4.5 million euros in just 11 minutes.

And in September, two masked individuals broke into the Renoir Museum in Cagnes-sur-Mer and stole four works by Renoir in less than three minutes. When the police arrived, they had left two of the artworks behind in the museum garden.
