"Unlucky" Husanov

The fairytale of Albert Phor-Man and Abdukodir Khusanov

"Unlucky" Husanov

The fate of this classic hero is reminiscent today of the life story of Abdukodir Husanov, a bright star of Uzbek football. Once unable to make the starting lineup of the local club "Bunyodkor" and deemed "surplus to requirements," this "unlucky" footballer is now playing for one of the strongest clubs on our planet — England's "Manchester City."

According to the contract extended until 2031, Abdukodir earns a salary of 7.5 million euros per year. This amounts to approximately 625,000 euros a month, 144,000 euros a week, and more than nearly 20,500 euros a day.

For comparison: an average footballer at the "Bunyodkor" club earns about 25 million sums per month. This means that Husanov, whose transfer value is currently estimated at 50 million euros and who is recognized as the most expensive defender in Asia, earns exactly 340 times more than his former teammates.

Had Abdukodir made the starting lineup of "Bunyodkor" in his time, perhaps today he would still be performing moderately in our local championship, staying in the "comfort zone" he was accustomed and adapted to — just like Albert Foreman, who could not have gone beyond the church had he been literate.
