UAE accuses Iran of launching ballistic missiles at it

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has accused Iran of firing ballistic missiles into its territory.

The UAE Ministry of Defense said that Iran had fired at least two ballistic missiles into its territory. In response, the Emirates suspended all trade and financial ties with Iran.

One of the missiles landed in UAE territorial waters, while the other landed outside. The UAE has been on a missile alert since the incident. This is the first such incident since the shelling of the port of Fujairah on May 4.

The UAE Ministry of Defense said in a statement: “The Ministry of Defense confirms its full readiness to confront any threats and prevent any attempts to undermine the security of the state.”

Iran denies launching missiles into the Emirates. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baqaei called the UAE’s statement baseless.
