Trump News for $100,000 a Month: New Truth Social Service Backfires

The Intercept media company and the Freedom of the Press Foundation have filed a lawsuit in Manhattan federal court against Donald Trump and several White House officials. The plaintiffs are demanding the cessation of the paid Truth API service, which launched on August 1.

The platform, developed by Trump Media & Technology Group, offers subscriptions costing up to $100,000 per month for early access to posts from ten key accounts. These include the accounts of Trump himself, Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert Kennedy Jr., FBI Director Cash Patel, and the official White House account.

The plaintiffs consider the service "profoundly corrupt" and claim it violates the First Amendment by denying citizens equal access to government statements. Trump's posts on tariffs and international conflicts often directly impact stock and commodity markets, and the commercial subscription allows insiders to receive information before others, resulting in financial gain for the president.

The lawsuit seeks to prohibit the White House from publishing official government statements exclusively on Truth Social while the paid feed remains in place. Previously, Senators Elizabeth Warren and Adam Schiff also petitioned the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to investigate the service for undermining the integrity of financial markets.

Trump Media representatives denied the claims, calling the lawsuit an attempt by left-wing activists to use the courts for censorship and harm shareholders. The company's interim CEO, Kevin McGurn, noted that the service provides subscribers with only marginally faster news delivery than other platforms. Donald Trump remains the company's largest shareholder, owning 41.3% through his trust, which is managed by his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr.
