Traffic lights near Amir Temur Square in Tashkent have been set to green.

A "green wave" system has been introduced in Tashkent near Amir Temur Square to optimize traffic flow. Specialists from the Traffic Management Center (TMC) synchronized the operation of five traffic lights at adjacent intersections.
According to the TMC, the system operates using a unified algorithm, covering both directions of traffic. This allows drivers who start on a green light to proceed unimpeded along Amir Temur Street from the intersection with Bukhoro Street to the roundabout, as well as in the opposite direction, without stopping. A time shift was calculated for each traffic light, taking into account the travel time along the corresponding section of road.
A key condition for the system's effective operation is that drivers adhere to the established speed limit and do not exceed it. The implementation of the "green wave" is expected to reduce congestion at intersections, lower fuel consumption, and reduce harmful emissions. The system is planned to be expanded to include the section between the roundabout and Makhtumkuli Street.
A similar "green wave" system was previously successfully launched on another section of the Small Ring Road. After synchronizing the traffic lights on that section, travel time for drivers was reduced by almost half.
