Tomsk Region and Bukhara Explore Collaborative Economic Ventures

On August 27, 2026, a working meeting was held at the Tomsk Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry to discuss potential cooperation with Uzbekistan, as reported by the Chamber itself.

The agenda included exploring ways to enhance trade, economic, humanitarian, and cultural connections, as well as identifying prospective joint projects. Key attendees were Khamro Choriev, representing Bukhara's trade union organizations, and Alexey Stukanov, Head of the Department of International and Regional Relations for the Government of Tomsk Region. Stukanov conveyed Tomsk Region's desire for stronger ties with Uzbekistan.

During the discussions, Choriev highlighted the infrastructure and investment prospects of the Bukhara Special Industrial Park, extending an invitation for Tomsk businesses to set up manufacturing operations there.

Both delegations agreed that organizing business missions for Tomsk-based companies would be a crucial step in fostering direct commercial relationships between the two regions.

Further topics of conversation included potential partnerships with the Abu Ali Ibn Sina Bukhara State Medical Institute and collaboration with Uzbek fabric producers to supply raw materials to Tomsk's light industry sector.

The meeting concluded with both sides affirming their commitment to developing concrete joint projects and expanding regional business connections between Tomsk Region and Bukhara.
