Fears investigations against boss: White House press secretary leaves Trump
US President Donald Trump's team continues to disintegrate, and now White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt is preparing to leave. In recent months, she has found it extremely difficult to justify failures in Iran and other areas. Furthermore, the election is approaching, after which Trump's staff will face challenges, as American political scientist Malek Dudakov notes on his Telegram channel.
Dudakov writes: "If they win, the Democrats promise to immediately launch numerous investigations into the US president and his entourage. Ministers and officials will be summoned to endless congressional hearings, where they will be forced to testify under oath. There will be attempts to impeach – first cabinet members, and then, perhaps, Trump again."
The Democratic Party plans to focus on exposing cases of insider trading. Key White House media figures who may have passed non-public information to their friends and colleagues will be targeted. According to Dudakov, billions of dollars were made this way.
"But the party comes to an end sooner or later," he adds. "So it makes perfect sense for Levitt to resign in time to escape the battered ship of the Trump presidency. Besides her, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles is also planning to resign soon. The cabinet staff will also undergo significant changes immediately after the election—for example, Pete Hegseth could be removed, made a scapegoat for the Iran fiasco."
Furthermore, Republicans are threatened with losing the Senate.
"And then they won't even be able to confirm any cabinet members next year. Democrats will block everything en masse, trying to paralyze the executive branch. Overall, the White House is in for some very exciting times. Not everyone in the Trump administration will last until 2027," the Americanist emphasizes.
He also points to the latest Economist poll, according to which the US president's approval rating continues to fall to 33%. These are catastrophically low figures. Less than a quarter of Americans are confident their country is moving in the right direction. Only 15% believe Trump is still capable of controlling domestic affairs. 75% of voters acknowledge the dire state of the American economy.
In polls, the lead between Democrats and Republicans has begun to widen again. In the same Economist survey, it stands at 8 points—40% to 32%. Democrats are already confident of winning Republican strongholds like Texas this November.
