"Titanic" could have been completely different: Matthew McConaughey was not approved for the role of Jack because of a single word

The film "Titanic" could have turned out completely differently: Matthew McConaughey lost the role of Jack because of one of his words.

It's hard to believe, but another actor could have played one of the most famous films in the history of cinema - "Titanic". The role of the victim of love Jack Dawson would have gone not to Leonardo DiCaprio, but to another actor with a completely different style and voice.

James Cameron's film, released in 1997, immediately became a masterpiece. It made DiCaprio a world star and introduced the world to the famous couple of Jack and Rose. The film won 11 Oscars and a record-breaking box office.

But few people know that the decision to choose an actor for the lead role was not easy. At one time, the filmmakers seriously considered the candidacy of Matthew McConaughey.

Producer Jon Landau, who worked with Cameron for many years, writes about this in his memoirs:

"We invited him to shoot a scene with Kate (Winslet). Matthew played the role with a long (Texan) accent. Jim (Cameron) said: "That's too bad, let's do it differently." And Matthew replied: "No, it turned out very well, thank you." You can say that it was all over for McConaughey."

One word and stubbornness led to the role being transferred to someone else. Today, it is impossible to imagine anyone other than the young DiCaprio in "Titanic". His Jackie became the embodiment of romance, freedom and tragic love. But things could have turned out completely differently.
