Tim Cook sold Apple shares worth 63.8 million dollars

Apple's Executive Chairman and former CEO Tim Cook sold 191.7 thousand Apple shares for nearly 63.9 million dollars. The transactions were executed at prices ranging from 330.66 to 334.50 dollars per share.

The sale took place the day after Cook received 374.5 thousand shares as part of his compensation package. These are restricted stock units (RSUs) that employees receive upon meeting certain conditions.

In Cook's case, the number of these shares depended on Apple's performance over three years compared to other companies in the S&P 500 index. After the shares were vested, Apple withheld nearly 200 thousand of them for tax purposes.

In addition, on October 2, Cook transferred another 26.3 thousand shares to another person or entity. The recipient is not specified in the documents.

The sale of shares was pre-planned under a special trading plan that Cook approved in May. Such plans allow executives to set transaction conditions in advance and avoid making the decision to sell directly on the day of the operation.

Following the sale, tax withholding, and the transfer of shares as a gift through his trust, Cook still owns more than 3.2 million Apple shares.

Tim Cook stepped down as Apple's CEO on September 1, 2026, after 15 years at the helm of the company. He was succeeded by John Ternus, while Cook continued his work at Apple as Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors.
