The world number one tennis player will miss the most important tournament of the year

World number one Yannick Sinner will not be able to participate in the last Grand Slam tournament of the year, the US Open, due to a right knee injury. The athlete announced this on his social media page.
According to Sinner, he, along with his team and medical staff, worked hard to recover. However, after training in Monte Carlo, his knee was not fully healed, and therefore he decided not to participate in the tournament.
“I worked hard with my team and medical staff to recover. However, I will not be able to participate in this year's US Open. We continued training in Monte Carlo in recent days. However, my right knee is not yet fully healed and I am told that I need more time for this,” Sinner wrote.
The world number one also expressed his disappointment with the decision: "I am very disappointed with this decision. New York is very special to me. I was really looking forward to going back there and playing in front of the fans."
The 25-year-old won his fifth Grand Slam title in July by defeating Alexander Zverev in the Wimbledon final. He then missed the Montreal and Cincinnati tournaments due to injury.
