The World Bank has allocated $10.6 million to eliminate gas leaks.
As part of a joint project with the World Bank, the country will establish a mechanism for identifying and eliminating gas leaks. Previously, with the Bank's support, over 1,000 faulty Uztransgaz points were identified, loosing up to 35 million cubic meters of gas.

The Cabinet of Ministers adopted Resolution No. 444 of August 18, 2026, entitled "On measures to implement the project 'Creation of a mechanism for eliminating gas leaks in Uzbekistan' with the participation of the World Bank."
Under Presidential Decree UP-16 of January 30, 2025, "On the state program for implementing the Uzbekistan-2030 Strategy in the Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy," the project "Creation of a mechanism for eliminating gas leaks in Uzbekistan" is being implemented jointly with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance signed a grant agreement with the World Bank for $10.6 million, as well as an additional agreement with Uztransgaz JSC on the distribution of grants. Thanks to gas leak detection initiatives supported by the World Bank, more than 1,000 defective sections belonging to Uztransgaz JSC were identified in Uzbekistan, with a total leak volume of up to 35 million cubic meters of gas.
