The US under Donald Trump has revoked over 250,000 visas
Since Donald Trump took office as president, the US Department of State has revoked more than 250,000 visas.
According to him, the grounds for revocation were various violations, including non-compliance with visa conditions, calls for violence against the US or Americans, fraud, and threats to national security.
Of the revoked visas, 2,300 were related to "birth tourism." In August, Trump signed two executive orders restricting this practice.
"Through continuous screening of unprecedented scale, we are identifying and denying entry to those who commit crimes, support terrorism, defraud Americans, or abuse our immigration system. A US visa is a privilege, not a right, and if you violate the terms of that privilege, you lose it," Pigott said.
The measure will affect up to 200,000 foreigners who arrived in the US on B1 and B2 visas and applied for asylum.
Since his return to the White House, the Trump administration has consistently tightened requirements for visa applicants.
