The US has admitted responsibility for the killing of more than 150 civilians in Yemen.

The United States has claimed responsibility for the deaths of more than 150 civilians in Yemen.

The Pentagon confirmed that three American airstrikes carried out in Yemen in April 2025 killed 153 civilians and wounded another 243. The military department continues to investigate 15 other incidents in which civilians may have been injured.

According to the published report:

* On April 6, a strike on a residential building in Sana'a killed five people and wounded 25.

* On April 17, an attack on the port of Ras Isa killed 80 people and wounded 171.

* On April 28, a strike near Saada killed 68 people and injured 47.

These strikes were part of an operation against the Houthis that began in March 2025 after the group attacked commercial vessels in the Red Sea. The campaign lasted 53 days, during which the US carried out over a thousand strikes on Houthi targets. In early May, the two sides reached a ceasefire agreement.

The Pentagon conducted its assessment using intelligence, satellite and other imagery, and open-source information. However, agency representatives did not visit the strike sites or interview witnesses.

The report also does not include data on possible civilian casualties as a result of US strikes on boats in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. The Pentagon stated that the US military is "firmly committed" to minimizing harm to civilians.

Cuba previously accused the United States of complicity in widespread power outages following another nationwide blackout. The country's authorities claimed that American sanctions were hindering the import of fuel, equipment, and spare parts for the energy system.
