The United States announced that it had struck Iran's Qeshm Island
Washington explained this as the defense of its facilities in the region. In recent weeks, Trump had been hinting at the resumption of attacks on the Islamic Republic.

United States reports strike on Iran's Qeshm Island
On November 2, a U.S. official announced that the country's Armed Forces carried out strikes on Iran's Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz. Reuters reported on the matter.
The attacks, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, were limited in nature and do not signal a resumption of full-scale military operations.
Another official stated that the strikes were carried out for defensive purposes in response to the use of Iranian surface-to-air missiles against U.S. facilities. Central Command (CENTCOM) has not yet commented on the attacks.
On the morning of November 2, Iran's state news agency IRNA reported that several explosions occurred on Qeshm Island. Citing sources, Fox News also reported that the strikes were delivered for defensive purposes in response to fire opened at a U.S. aircraft.
In recent weeks, U.S. President Donald Trump has been hinting at resuming attacks against Iran after the midterm elections taking place today, November 3. However, following his speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool on November 2, he suggested he held a different view on the matter.
