The trial in the "Real Sanjik" case has begun: new details revealed

The judicial investigation into the case of "Real Sanjik" has begun: new details have emerged

On September 14, the judicial investigation against entrepreneur Sanjar Karimov, known as the blogger "Real Sanjik," began in the Tashkent City Court for Criminal Cases.

In the previous court hearing, due to the need to study and legally evaluate the audio recording presented by the defendant Sanjar Karimov and the evidence brought to court by his lawyers, the judicial panel issued a ruling to resume the judicial investigation specifically on this part.

During the first hearing held on September 14, the audio recording presented by Sanjar Karimov was played in the courtroom. It features a conversation between Feruza Rahmatullayeva, her spouse, as well as two lawyers and Sanjar Karimov.

Two individuals named Sanjar are mentioned in the audio recording. So, who are these two Sanjars? Sanjar Karimov's lawyer, Oybek Ashurov, commented on this situation.

According to him, Feruza Rahmatullayeva stated with her own mouth that a person named Sanjar Alimov, not Sanjar Karimov, was meant here. It was also fully described that Sanjar Alimov worked in the Anti-Corruption Department of the Tashkent City Criminal Investigation Department and is currently retired.

It was said that Sanjar Alimov grew up together with Shahzod Karimov since childhood and is an acquaintance whom he considers a brother. They worked together in buying and selling housing, cars, and other businesses. All the work was carried out by Sanjar Alimov. However, because the name Sanjar was repeated many times on the internet and social networks, everyone's attention was focused on Sanjar Karimov, and the investigation also mistakenly accused Sanjar Karimov in the criminal case as a direct accomplice to Shahzod Rismatov. As for Sanjar Alimov, for some unknown reason, he remained behind the scenes. This could be due to his work in the internal affairs system or other reasons, the lawyer said.

In his explanation regarding the audio recording, the defendant Sanjar Karimov stated that he does not know the person named Sanjar Alimov at all.

Firstly, I do not know that Sanjar. They posted on the internet that that Sanjar was me. They thought that Sanjar was me. Now, the difference between the Sanjars has been clarified, everyone heard it, the defendant said.

In court, the defendant Feruza Rahmatullayeva was also given the floor. She confirmed that the voice in the audio recording indeed belonged to her. She also added that some parts of the audio recording had been cut and it was not fully presented to the court, and that on that day she spoke nicely to Sanjar Karimov under pressure.

Feruza Rahmatullayeva also presented to the court an audio recording of a telephone conversation with Sanjar Karimov. The court stated that a legal assessment would be given to this in subsequent hearings.

The judicial investigation continues.

As a reminder, on May 8, the Mirzo Ulugbek District Court for Criminal Cases found Sanjar Karimov guilty of committing crimes related to fraud, threat to kill or use violence, and narcotics, and sentenced him to 5 years of deprivation of liberty and a fine in the amount of 410 BCAs (Base Calculating Amount). Expressing dissatisfaction with the verdict, Sanjar Karimov appealed to a higher instance.
