SAMA explained why "Uzexpocentre" and the International Cooperation Center will be privatized under special conditions
Sohibjon Murodov, Director of the State Assets Management Agency, explained why the state shares in "Uzexpocentre" and the International Cooperation Center in Tashkent are being privatized in agreement with the Presidential Administration, Gazeta correspondent reports.
By the President's decree of August 28 on reducing state participation in the economy, state shares and stakes in a number of large companies are being sold. In particular, a 91.83% state share in "Uzexpocentre" and a 79.27% state share in the International Cooperation Center (the International Business Center near the "Bodomzor" metro station) will be put up for sale.
At a press conference held on October 8, the head of the agency pointed to their location in the green zone of the city as the main reason for establishing a special concept and sales conditions for these facilities.
"The difference from other assets is in the location. Many people know that they are located in the green zone of Tashkent city. In parallel, these projects were also taken into account when we implemented the 'Green Zone' state program. In accordance with the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution adopted in February, when our shares in these enterprises are sold, these conditions will be strictly defined and reinforced by the master plan," said the head of SAMA.
Sohibjon Murodov added that since work on the implementation of the "Green Zone" state program is ongoing in the area, this requirement will be included as a mandatory condition for investors.
For reference, the above-mentioned decree also plans to put 98.9% of "Turonbank" shares up for public auction.
Taking into account the bank's level of readiness for privatization and based on the conclusions of international consultants, preparing the bank for privatization was assigned to the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Among them are also a 54.76% stake in KO-UNG CYLINDER, 50% in Kor-UNG Investment, 50% in V-GEN BIOPHARMA, 100% in Inno Technopark, 50% in Ustudy, and a 51% stake in "UZBEK-TURK TEST MARKAZI".
