The Senate launched the Sustainable Development Goals month.

**The Senate of Uzbekistan initiated Sustainable Development Goal Month**

The Senate hosted an event titled "Sustainable Development Goals: A New Stage of National Development," which marked the official launch of Sustainable Development Goal Month.

The conference was attended by parliamentarians, heads of ministries and agencies, representatives of the United Nations, the leadership of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Secretariat, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations, media outlets, and entrepreneurs. The conference was opened by Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.

During the month, hundreds of events will be held across the country, including parliamentary hearings, sessions of local councils (Kengashs), conferences, forums, roundtables, open dialogues, and specialized media projects. The main goal of the month is to strengthen citizens' sense of ownership of the SDGs and demonstrate the effectiveness of ongoing reforms.

Uzbekistan has adopted 16 national Sustainable Development Goals and 126 targets, fully aligning them with the priorities of the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy. Thanks to the reforms implemented, positive results have been achieved on over 70% of the goals, and 45% of the indicators have been completed.

The poverty rate in the country has decreased from 17% in 2021 to 5.8% by the end of 2025.

Preschool education enrollment has increased from 27.7% to 78%, and higher education enrollment has increased from 8.3% to 47.7%.

The share of women in public administration has increased from 27% to 35%, in the Legislative Chamber to 38%, and in local councils to 32.5%.

In 2026, Uzbekistan ranked 65th out of 167 countries in the Sustainable Development Goals Index.
