The number of migrant workers at Russian construction sites has increased
About 20,000 foreign workers are working at construction sites, which is about five percent more than in the past 10 years.
The number of migrant workers in Russia's construction sector has increased. This was reported by Anton Glushkov, president of the National Association of Builders ("NOSTROY"), as quoted by RIA Novosti.
Glushkov noted that about 20,000 foreign workers are currently working at construction sites. This is about five percent more than in the past decade.
Traditionally, migrants come mainly from Central Asian countries. Currently, the number of workers from Uzbekistan is slightly higher than that from Tajikistan. Russia has also begun to attract workers from countries such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Vietnam.
Glushkov also spoke positively about North Korean builders working in Siberia and the Far East. They are distinguished by their discipline, high labor productivity, do not cause problems with migration policy, and strict compliance with Russian legislation.
Last year, Russia issued 36,413 visas to North Korean citizens, almost four times more than a year earlier.
