The list of songs causing road accidents has been announced

A list of songs that can cause road accidents has been published
In August 2026, the law firm "Trujillo Gonzalez" analyzed 30 Spotify playlists compiled for road trips and selected the 50 most frequently played songs from them. The songs were then compared by tempo. It was found that music with a tempo higher than 120 beats per minute is associated with speeding, decreased attention at the wheel, and making more mistakes while driving.
The five most dangerous songs were:
- Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" — 192 beats per minute
- Oasis's "Wonderwall" — 173 beats per minute
- The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber's "STAY" — 169 beats per minute
- Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell" — 166 beats per minute
- Blondie's "One Way or Another" — 162 beats per minute
The track "Shape of You" appeared in 24 out of the 30 playlists and has been streamed more than five billion times on Spotify.
The rest of the top ten included Pharrell Williams's "Happy", Outkast's "Hey Ya!", Queen's "Don’t Stop Me Now", The Killers's "Mr. Brightside", and Bruno Mars's "Locked Out of Heaven". While the danceability of "Happy" was rated at 95%, Bruno Mars's figure was 92%, and Outkast's was 91%.
The study did not cover all songs. It only analyzed the 50 tracks that appeared most frequently in the 30 playlists on Spotify, which is why this is considered more of a rating designed for road trips.
