Competition Committee reviews digital service platforms

The Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Protection of Uzbekistan has begun reviewing the platforms of organizations providing streaming, internet, and digital television services. The review is being conducted against the backdrop of an increase in the number of consumer appeals regarding telecommunications services.

As of the current period of 2026, the number of consumer complaints about telecommunications services has doubled compared to the same period last year, exceeding 1,000 appeals.

During the analysis, it was revealed that on the mobile applications and websites of some operators and providers, the information necessary for consumers is not fully disclosed. In particular, this concerns tariffs and prices, terms of service provision, public offers, and other material conditions.

In a number of cases, such information is also not presented in the state language.

The Committee is conducting the review based on open sources. Specialists are assessing how fully the information required by consumers is published on the platforms of companies providing streaming, internet access, and digital television services, as well as whether it complies with legal requirements.

In this regard, organizations providing the relevant services have been recommended to ensure the completeness of information on mobile applications and websites and to bring it into compliance with the requirements established by law.

Consumers can send their suggestions and appeals to the Committee at [email protected] and [email protected].

The Committee reported that additional information on the results of the review will be provided later.
