The Bugatti CEO’s car was stolen
Bugatti Rimac CEO Mate Rimac's Bugatti Chiron Sport hypercar was stolen from the parking lot in front of the company's headquarters in Sveta Nedelja, Croatia.
Rimac always leaves the key in the car and does not lock it, as employees regularly take the car for tests and trips.
On that day, a 36-year-old man came to the company looking for a job. Seeing the Chiron parked in the lot, he got in and drove away. Shortly after, it became known that the car had been stolen. Rimac immediately called the police.
After that, the employees tracked the car's movements using the telemetry system installed in it. The car headed toward Slovenia and then crossed the border into Austria. Rimac gave chase in his Porsche 911. The police of Croatia, Slovenia, and Austria were also involved in the search. Eventually, the Chiron was stopped at a gas station near Graz, Austria.
Later, Rimac met and spoke with the car thief. He decided not to press charges with the police.
The car is worth 2.4 million euros.
