Tashkent's new airport may be connected to the Northern Railway Station by rail

Tashkent's new airport may be connected to the "Tashkent-North" railway station by a rail line. Such a project is included in the passenger transport development strategy until 2030, which is currently at the discussion stage.

According to the document, Uzbekistan plans to build three railway lines by 2030 to connect airports with railway stations. In addition to Tashkent, such routes are planned in Bukhara and Urgench. The project also mentions the Parkent – New Tashkent section.

The first line is intended to be built in 2026, and two more by 2029. All three projects are planned to be completed by 2030. It is proposed to attract commercial bank loans to finance the lines in Tashkent and Bukhara. Preliminary allocations for these two projects are set at about $30.6 million in 2029 and $37.4 million in 2030. At the same time, the cost of each individual facility is not specified.

In addition, starting from July 2027, it is planned to create a unified transport system in the Tashkent agglomeration, which will integrate the "Tashkent-North" and "Tashkent-South" railway stations, Tashkent International Airport, and the central bus station.

As part of these plans, the number of electric trains from Chirchiq, Yangiyoʻl, Angren, and Olmaliq is to be increased by 1.5 times. Direct transfers to the metro will also be provided for passengers.

Another measure is the creation of a unified electronic platform called "Bir yo'l", through which it will be possible to buy tickets for trains, planes, and buses. It is also planned to launch 20 bus routes between airports, railway stations, and bus terminals. Transfer times between different modes of transport are intended to be reduced from 20 to 10 minutes.

As a reminder, Tashkent's new international airport, the construction of which is stipulated by the presidential decree of November 25, 2025, will cover an area of 1,310 hectares.

At the first stage, it is planned to build two 4-kilometer-long runways, a passenger terminal with an area of 208 thousand square meters, 98 aircraft parking stands, a refueling complex, and a control tower. Under the terms of the agreement, a private consortium will handle the construction and subsequent operation of the passenger terminal and the station square, while the state side is assigned the construction and operation of the airfield complex.

After the airport is commissioned, which is scheduled for the end of 2030, it will be able to serve up to 20 million passengers and up to 300 thousand tons of cargo per year, becoming one of the key elements of the country's transport and logistics infrastructure.
