Tashkent is hosting the GEOMIN 2026 international conference
The event was organized by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) with the support and participation of the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The main theme of the GEOMIN 2026 conference is "Advancing Exploration through AI and Digital Transformation."
Representatives from more than 70 organizations from 26 countries are participating in GEOMIN 2026. The program includes more than 100 presentations, 25 technical sessions, speeches by 34 keynote speakers, and three high-level panel discussions.
One of the main directions of the conference is the use of artificial intelligence and large volumes of geological data to increase the efficiency of searching for new deposits.
The program places special emphasis on critical and strategic resources, which are becoming increasingly important for the energy transition, high-tech industries, and the stability of global supply chains. Prospects for the exploration and development of mineral resources, investment opportunities, and issues of introducing modern technologies into the industry are being discussed.
The official opening ceremony of the GEOMIN 2026 conference took place on September 14. At the ceremony, the First Deputy Minister of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Feruza Khamidova, and the President of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), Rocky Detomo, welcomed the participants.
The GEOMIN 2026 program also includes three high-level panel discussions.
One of the special events of the conference is GEOMIN AI Labs, which is a practical initiative combining artificial intelligence, data science, and exploration. The top ten finalists will present their developments and solutions during the conference.
Hosting the GEOMIN 2026 conference in Tashkent is of particular importance for Uzbekistan. In recent years, large-scale reforms have been consistently implemented in the country's geology and mining industry. The scope of using airborne geophysics, remote sensing, geodynamic modeling, artificial intelligence, and machine learning technologies in exploration work is expanding.
The program also includes a technical visit to the Kalmakyr copper mine. During the visit, participants will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the geological structure of the mine, the approaches used in exploration work, and the mining processes.
GEOMIN was first held in 2025 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
