Tashkent authorities have reacted to the situation regarding the cruel treatment of dogs in "Yunusabad City"

Following reports of animal cruelty and information about the possible use of dog meat for food at a construction site in "Yunusabad City," the Tashkent authorities have intervened in the situation. Around 20 dogs have already been rescued and transferred to the "Hayot" shelter, and the circumstances of the incident will be investigated by the competent authorities.

Staff from the Yunusabad district khokimiyat (administration) and the Stray Animal Catching Service under the Main Department of Improvement of Tashkent arrived at the scene.

The khokimiyat reported that the dogs were kept in overcrowded enclosures and under improper conditions. Information regarding possible cruelty to the animals will also be investigated.

The rescued dogs were transferred to the protection of the "Hayot" shelter. Work at the site is ongoing.

The city administration emphasized that they categorically condemn any manifestations of cruelty towards animals. Furthermore, in assessing the situation, what matters is not the nationality or citizenship of the potential participants, but compliance with the law and responsibility for the treatment of animals.

Additionally, the first specialized municipal shelter for homeless animals is being established in Tashkent. It is planned to combine humane catching, veterinary examination, vaccination, sterilization, treatment, temporary housing, and the search for new owners.

The authorities thanked residents, animal rights activists, and staff of the "Hayot" shelter for their help in rescuing the animals.
