Tashkent Airport has become the first in Central Asia to receive the second level of carbon accreditation
Tashkent International Airport has received the second level of the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program. In doing so, it has become the first airport in Central Asia to achieve Level 2 within this system.
The ACA certificates were presented to Uzbekistan Airports at a joint ICAO and ACI EUROPE seminar. The event, dedicated to environmental themes, is taking place in Tashkent from October 7 to 9 with the support of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan.
In total, nine airports of Uzbekistan Airports received accreditation. Samarkand, Urgench, Namangan, Fergana, Nukus, Termez, Karshi, and Navoi airports received Level 1. This level confirms the measurement and independent verification of operational carbon emissions.
Tashkent Airport achieved Level 2 thanks to the implementation of measures to reduce its carbon footprint. The next phase of the seminar will focus on emissions reduction, sustainable aviation fuel, and energy efficiency.
In addition, participants will discuss the financing of environmental projects and the adaptation of airports to climate change. Uzbekistan Airports will present its initiatives on the implementation of SAF and sustainable infrastructure development.
