Taliban search homes of former government forces, threaten them with death

**Taliban raids homes of former government security forces, threatens them with death**

Local sources in Kandahar, Afghanistan, reported that the Taliban have begun raiding homes of several former government security forces in recent days.

Sources who confirmed the information to Hasht-e Subh Daily on August 10 said that the Taliban have informed former government officials living in various districts of Kandahar, including the Aino Mina area, that they are under strict surveillance.

According to the sources, the Taliban have warned these individuals that if they are arrested on charges of being associated with opposition groups, they may be killed. The Taliban have also demanded that former government soldiers provide information about individuals who have been in contact or seeking cooperation from abroad.

Another source said that two days ago, Taliban representatives entered and searched the homes of former government forces in the 15th district of Kandahar.

**Opposition groups claim 19 attacks in 10 days**

Several anti-Taliban groups reported 19 attacks in nine provinces in the past 10 days. They claimed to have killed 33 Taliban members and wounded dozens.

The Taliban acknowledged that there had been clashes only in parts of Badakhshan province. At the same time, they denied claims that opposition fighters had taken over posts. The Taliban did not comment on the reported casualties or other attacks.

The Afghan Liberation Front reported seven attacks between July 30 and August 9. The front claimed to have killed 16 Taliban members and wounded 19 others in Badakhshan, Kunduz, Nangarhar, and Faryab provinces. The front also said it had temporarily captured several Taliban checkpoints in Badakhshan.

The Afghan United Front separately claimed responsibility for 10 attacks during the same period. The group reported that 15 Taliban members were killed and 15 others were wounded in operations in Baghlan, Faryab, Kandahar, Helmand, Badghis, Badakhshan, and Ghor provinces.

The National Resistance Front also claimed that its fighters killed two Taliban members in an attack in Herat on July 30. The military wing of the Green Movement, led by former Vice President Amrullah Saleh, said it targeted a Taliban fuel convoy in the Solang Pass on August 8.

The Taliban confirmed clashes only in the Zebak and Yaftali Payin districts of Badakhshan. They denied reports that opposition forces had seized checkpoints.

In a recent statement, the Taliban governor of Badakhshan, Mohammad Ismail Ghaznavi, said that the armed opposition was not capable of undermining the government.

"I tell both external and internal enemies that if they dream of destroying the Islamic system or the stability of Afghanistan, they will take those dreams to the grave," he said.

Earlier, it was reported that the Taliban had shot at protesters in Badakhshan, killing four people.
