A woman in Tajikistan died as a result of gunfire that erupted in neighboring Afghanistan. A bullet pierced her window and entered her home. Following the incident, Dushanbe sent a note of protest to the Afghan side, demanding measures to prevent similar incidents.

The deceased was identified as Jasmina Yatimzoda, a young resident of the village of Dashtak. According to Kazinform, on August 13, at approximately 6:40 PM, she was at home when a bullet entered through her window and struck her in the liver.

The Tajik presidential press service confirmed the woman's death. They reported that Yatimzoda was killed by gunfire from Afghanistan, and authorities have launched an investigation.

The incident occurred amid armed clashes in Afghanistan's Badakhshan province, which borders Tajikistan. According to the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs, recent fighting has created a threat to border areas, resulting in violations of the country's airspace and damage to residential buildings.

In response, Dushanbe sent a note of protest to the Afghan side. Tajikistan demanded that the inviolability of the state border be respected and that effective measures be taken to prevent similar incidents.

UNESCO previously reported that approximately 2.4 million girls in Afghanistan are deprived of secondary education due to restrictions imposed after the Taliban came to power. Afghanistan remains the only country in the world where girls and women are prohibited from receiving secondary and higher education.
