Synology RackStation: Enterprise Storage Systems with Scalability
The new Synology RackStation series combines scalable storage systems and DSM tools to manage data and business workloads.

Synology RackStation: Scalable Enterprise Storage Solutions
As data grows and spreads across offices, endpoints, applications, and multiple locations, modern storage systems must not only store files but also provide consistent performance, support critical business services, and scale to meet changing organizational needs, avoiding costly and disruptive infrastructure changes. The new Synology RackStation series combines rackmount storage with the flexible capabilities of DiskStation Manager (DSM), offering solutions for various deployment scenarios—from branch offices to central data centers.
A RackStation for Every Stage of Growth
The RackStation series covers a wide range of deployment scenarios. The 1U RS1626xs+ model delivers enterprise-grade capabilities for space-constrained environments. The RS3626xs and RS4826xs+ are scalable platforms for demanding business workloads, while the 16-drive RS6426xs+ is designed for organizations requiring high throughput and significant expansion options.
Performance and Scalability
The RS1626xs+ features a six-core Intel Xeon D-1726 processor and delivers up to 84,000 random 4KB write IOPS and sequential read/write speeds of up to 2,100/1,500 MB/s. Dual 10GbE ports, a PCIe 4.0 expansion slot, and two integrated M.2 NVMe slots for SSD cache ensure high performance as the number of users and workloads grow.
At the high-end, the RS6426xs+ delivers up to 165,000 random 4K write IOPS and sequential read speeds of up to 6,700 MB/s and write speeds of up to 4,300 MB/s. With 16 drive bays and support for up to four RX1225RP expansion modules, the system scales native capacity to over 1.5 PB. The RS3626xs and RS4826xs+ models offer additional configuration and performance options for organizations using HDDs, SSDs, or hybrid storage systems.
Connectivity and Uptime
Select models feature integrated 10GbE RJ45 network interfaces and support additional 10/25GbE network adapters or Fibre Channel connectivity, allowing you to tailor your network infrastructure to specific workload requirements. Enterprise-grade features such as redundant power supplies, hot-swappable drives, redundant fans, online volume expansion, and out-of-band management help improve availability and simplify maintenance. In compatible dual-server configurations, Synology High Availability automatically fails over critical services to the backup node in the event of a failure.
Unified Data Management Platform
DSM transforms RackStation into a unified data management platform. Synology Drive provides private cloud capabilities for file access and synchronization, while Synology collaboration applications enable local file sharing, document co-authoring, email, messaging, and calendaring.
For data protection, Active Backup Suite, Hyper Backup, and Snapshot Replication provide comprehensive backup, replication, and recovery capabilities for endpoints, servers, virtual machines, and clouds. Surveillance Station provides video surveillance management capabilities, while Virtual Machine Manager and Container Manager enable application hosting, sandboxing, and disaster recovery scenarios. In compatible configurations, Synology Tiering helps improve storage efficiency by moving infrequently accessed data between storage tiers optimized for performance and capacity respectively.
