Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) – Sodik Safoyev, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, met with Samir Paul Kapoor, US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs. During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for developing Uzbek-American relations, according to the press service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.
During the talks, they exchanged views on bilateral cooperation.
The meeting participants noted that in recent years, the partnership between Uzbekistan and the US has reached a qualitatively new level. They also emphasized the need to effectively leverage existing potential to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
Samir Paul Kapoor praised the large-scale economic reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, as well as the country's policies aimed at strengthening good-neighborly relations, mutual trust, and regional cooperation in Central Asia.
Sodik Safoev, in turn, presented the American delegation with information on the activities of the Oliy Majlis, its role in the state and social development of the country, as well as on legislative work aimed at supporting the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan.
