Shell to relocate some Aberdeen jobs to London
The company says the move will not affect workers on its North Sea operations.
Shell is moving a portion of its Aberdeen-based workforce to London.
The employees impacted are part of teams situated at the energy behemoth's Kingswells offices in Aberdeen. These teams are responsible for global projects, excluding those in the North Sea.
While Shell has not disclosed the exact number of positions being relocated, the company stated its intention to consolidate these roles in its London hub to foster enhanced collaboration.
This relocation will not impact other Shell personnel at Kingswells or those at Adura, which is its Aberdeen-based joint North Sea venture with Equinor, the Norwegian state-owned energy firm.
Shell indicated that this adjustment to its global organizational structure is being made to "reflect the evolving needs of the business and stay competitive."
A company statement elaborated: "Certain roles in our development, subsurface and wells teams will be expected to move to London from Aberdeen in 2027 to allow greater collaboration at our central UK hub. The majority of these affected roles currently support Shell's global operations, rather than UK operations based in Aberdeen."
Last month, Shell reported that its second-quarter profits for the year had more than doubled, a surge attributed to increased oil prices following the Iran war.
