School uniform and stationery sellers have been warned of liability for price gouging.

Sellers of school uniforms and stationery have been reminded of their liability for unjustified price increases.

As reported by Podrobno.uz from Tashkent, the Competition Committee of Uzbekistan issued a warning to entrepreneurs. Ahead of the new academic year, when seasonal "school bazaars" opened across the country in public schools, farmers' markets, and shopping malls, the Committee emphasized the unacceptability of unjustified price increases on school uniforms, textbooks, stationery, and other related products.

The Committee noted that sellers are obligated to strictly comply with legal requirements, guarantee the quality of the products they offer, and provide customers with all necessary product information, including price and manufacturer information.

Consumers, in turn, are advised to carefully evaluate the quality and price of products before making a purchase.

The Competition Committee continuously monitors pricing at "school bazaars." If citizens discover unjustified price increases, they can report them by calling the unified helpline number 1159.

As a reminder, over 795,000 children will be attending school for the first time this coming academic year. Each of them will receive a "Presidential Gift," including a set of 12 school supplies.
