Ryanair may freeze workers' pay as fuel prices spike

Ryanair may freeze workers' pay as fuel prices spike

Ryanair is weighing a temporary wage freeze for staff to help cover a sharp jump in fuel costs, which have risen after the US-Israel war with Iran.

The airline said it expects fuel prices to stay elevated "well into 2027" unless there is a "swift resolution" to the conflict.

Ryanair said its fuel bill is projected to be €2bn (£1.6bn) higher in the short term and said it expects European airfares to rise to help offset the expense.

But it said that would probably not be enough and, among several measures, it is considering "temporary pay freezes".
