Russian delegation explores Uzbekistan’s tourism potential
A Russian trade union delegation visited Tashkent, Samarkand and Tashkent Region to explore Uzbekistan’s tourism infrastructure and travel options.

A delegation from the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia recently concluded an exploratory visit to Uzbekistan, focusing on the nation's tourism capabilities. The Russian contingent toured Tashkent, Samarkand, and the Tashkent Region, examining the existing tourism infrastructure and the potential for arranging trips for their members and their families, according to Uzbekistan's Tourism Committee.
During their time in Tashkent, the delegates explored various cultural and tourist attractions within the capital, including the Center of Islamic Civilization, and observed the contemporary facilities available for visitors.
In Samarkand, the Russian representatives visited the city's prominent landmarks, delving into its rich historical and cultural legacy. A significant focus was placed on the prospects for expanding cultural, educational, and pilgrimage tourism.
The delegation's itinerary in the Tashkent Region included visits to various recreational and tourism facilities, such as sanatoriums and health camps for children. They evaluated the suitability of these locations for family, children's, and health-focused resort vacations.
A segment of their program also involved a journey on the Afrosiyob high-speed train, traveling from Tashkent to Samarkand. This provided the Russian representatives with direct experience of the rail link connecting two of Uzbekistan's key tourism hubs.
Upon the completion of their familiarization tour, the delegation had acquired a comprehensive understanding of Uzbekistan's tourism amenities and infrastructure, which could potentially be incorporated into structured holiday packages for Russian trade union members and their families.
This visit was a result of prior agreements between Uzbekistan's Tourism Committee and the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia, with the objective of fostering further reciprocal tourism exchanges.
