Restoration of the "Poi Kalyan" complex is planned

Uzbekistan and UNESCO discussed joint projects on the restoration of the "Poi Kalyan" architectural complex in Bukhara and the creation of an open-air archaeological museum in the "Shahristan" area.

Plans to restore the "Poi Kalyan" complex are being put forward

The Permanent Delegate of Uzbekistan to UNESCO, Kamol Mukhtarov, held a meeting with the Director of the organization's World Heritage Centre, Lazare Eloundou Assomo.

During the conversation, issues of expanding cooperation in the field of protecting and preserving Uzbekistan's cultural heritage sites, as well as the implementation of new joint initiatives, were discussed.

During the dialogue, special attention was paid to plans for the restoration of the "Poi Kalyan" architectural complex in Bukhara and the creation of an open-air archaeological museum in the "Shahristan" area.

Additionally, the results of the international expert missions that operated in Bukhara in May–June of this year were reviewed, and the next steps for the implementation of these projects were discussed.

The Director of the World Heritage Centre, Lazare Eloundou Assomo, also noted that during the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee held in Busan on July 26, modernist architectural sites in Tashkent were included in the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List.

He once again congratulated Uzbekistan on this event, noting that it testifies to the international recognition of the country's efforts to preserve its rich and diverse cultural heritage.
