'Relief' as salon reopens 15 months after arson
N&D Salon in Sheffield had only been open for nine days before the attack in May 2025.

A Sheffield salon owner has expressed his "relief" and "excitement" as his business reopens its doors, 15 months after an arson attack devastated the premises. Hasan Seedeeq had been operating N&D Salon at the Manor Park Centre for only nine days when a fire, deliberately set at a neighboring establishment in May 2025, forced its closure.
Since the incident, the 35-year-old has undertaken the arduous task of rebuilding the salon from the ground up, all while grappling with the challenge of securing work to cover rent and utility expenses. Seedeeq articulated his struggle, stating, "There are no words that can explain how hard it's been for me because any penny I had, I spent in this shop and suddenly one disaster and I lost everything."
South Yorkshire Police believe the fire at Manor Park Centre was intentionally started in the early hours of Monday, May 12, 2025. The force has confirmed that no charges have been filed in connection with the incident, and the investigation has been "filed pending further investigative opportunities."
The hair salon was one of three businesses destroyed in the arson attack at Manor Park Centre. Kurdish-born Seedeeq recounted the "heartbreaking" moment he learned of his new business's destruction. "We only put the front sign up on the Sunday afternoon and after we finished the job I went to Birmingham to see my girlfriend," he explained. "I woke up when a family friend sent me a video outside the salon all burnt out. I couldn't talk, I just shook."
In addition to N&D Salon, Flowers and Gift 2 Go and Krown Tanning & Beauty also sustained severe damage in the fire. The other two businesses have not yet reopened. Police confirmed that the fire in Sheffield was treated as arson, but no one has been charged.
Although the salon's landlord waived Seedeeq's rent, he admitted to "struggling" to find employment to pay household bills. "Nobody wanted to give me a chair for a barber job because they said I'd take their customers with me when I left, but I just needed a job," he said. "I used to come here and sit at the bus stop opposite my shop crying thinking about what happened."
After personally undertaking the decorating, Seedeeq was finally able to reopen the salon on Saturday, the 15th. "I'm just so grateful to everyone for welcoming me back," he expressed. "The people of Manor have been amazing."
