Record number of migrants arrested in the US in July under Trump
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents apprehended 49,500 migrants, a 15% increase from June (43,000 people).
The United States has arrested an unprecedented number of immigrants during Donald Trump's presidency in July.
According to the Associated Press, in July, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers arrested a total of 49.5 thousand immigrants. This is a 15 percent increase compared to the 43 thousand in June, and was the highest figure during Donald Trump's second term.
For comparison, about 8 thousand immigrants were arrested each month in the month before Donald Trump took office. Most of these people were transferred from prisons to ICE for deportation.
From the beginning of his second term, Trump launched a large-scale fight against illegal immigration. In particular, he tried to abolish the automatic right to citizenship for children born in the United States. However, the Supreme Court later found the presidential decree unconstitutional and rejected the initiative.
