Putin sent a gift to Trump – weekly digest

During the week, it became known that the leaders of the US, Russia, and China intend to meet regarding the topic of Ukraine. An American prisoner was released from a Russian prison. Election campaigns in Israel and Brazil have entered a decisive phase, with candidates busy "slinging mud at each other." Below, we recall these and other important events of the week.

Putin sent a gift to Trump – week digest

Xi, Putin, and Trump may meet

Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Putin, and US President Trump may hold a trilateral meeting on the issue of the war in Ukraine. Such a proposal came from Putin during a telephone conversation with Trump. Trump said that if Xi agreed, he would not be against it either. According to American publications, Beijing also agrees. There is also a reason for the meeting. The Asia-Pacific Economic Summit will be held in China in November.

Trump said at the meeting that he would "gladly discuss nuclear weapons." As if saying, "so many important people won't gather just for Ukraine alone." But there is no doubt that the main issue is precisely the war in Ukraine, where anyone dared to say "no" to Trump.

At the beginning of the week, important elections will be held in Brazil and Israel. Even though 215 million people live in Brazil and 10 million in Israel, it is the elections in a tiny piece of land like Israel that are more important for the world. Because Brazil is in the other hemisphere, states there are sparsely located, and historical claims between neighbors have not caused problems related to the fate of the world.

Israel, on the other hand, is located right in the center of the world. After Netanyahu came to government the last time, the Middle East remained trapped in a major war. For this reason, in the Muslim and Arab world, in most countries of the Middle East, they want Netanyahu to lose the election and leave. Bibi, however, is using this for his political PR, scaring Israelis by saying, "Look, all our enemies are against me, they want to destroy us, vote for me, otherwise they will establish a Palestinian state."

Parliamentary elections will be held in Israel on October 27. Netanyahu and the bloc supporting him are still slight favorites, but it is not difficult to notice that Israelis are also exhausted by the war. The current prime minister's team has conducted extremely strong war propaganda in recent years. If the opposition unites and removes Netanyahu even after such an influence, it will be a surprising result.

In Brazil, the situation is very interesting, just like the matches of the country's national football team. 80-year-old Lula da Silva will fight against the eldest son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, Flavio. If you remember, Lula defeated the elder Bolsonaro in the last election, and then the former president who lost the election was imprisoned. Now his being in prison serves as political PR for his son. Lula and Bolsonaro Jr. have been fighting for the government in live debates for several days.

By the way, there is also a similarity between the election campaigns in Brazil and Israel. In both campaigns, rivals are busy not with giving speeches about what they can offer the people, but with "mud-slinging at their opponents." The goal is just to get into power, and the rest will figure itself out.
