A procedure for withdrawing up to $500 in cash from banks without a passport has been introduced

Uzbek banks have created the opportunity to withdraw up to $500 in cash without an identity document. This new procedure has been in effect since August 9, 2026.

Previously, the maximum amount of foreign currency that could be withdrawn from banks without documents was $100. According to the new procedure, this limit has been increased fivefold.

The Ministry of Justice in May registered the resolution promoting this initiative. According to it, the new procedure was scheduled to come into force in three months.

In March, the Central Bank and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General's Office submitted a draft resolution for public discussion. According to the document, it is also planned to clarify the procedures for identifying customers.

According to the resolution, banks will be required to verify individuals using a biometric passport, ID card or digital identification. At the same time, requirements for more detailed recording of information on money transfers and other financial transactions are being strengthened.

Earlier, the names of the 10 banks with the most negative indicators in terms of appeals were announced.
