Where legends came to life: Where was "The Odyssey" filmed?

Many fans of the film "The Odyssey", directed by Christopher Nolan, were primarily captivated by its visual style. The filming process took place in at least six countries — Greece, Italy, Morocco, Scotland, Iceland, and, of course, the USA. Thus, during the work on the film, the creative team managed to travel almost the entire world and its most remote corners.

"We really traveled a lot. Every place was new and unfamiliar to me. It was a real adventure," says actor Matt Damon.

In Greece, they visited the famous Cave of Nestor, which was shown as the home of the cyclops Polyphemus. Ithaca was represented through the medieval Castle of Santa Caterina, while Troy was depicted through Moroccan landscapes, including the ancient city of Ait Ben-Haddou, recognized as a UNESCO heritage site. The shores of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in Iceland served as the underworld — but that is not all.
