Pennywise actor and Home Alone star Tim Curry has died.

Tim Curry, best known for his role as Pennywise and his role in Home Alone, has passed away.

British actor Tim Curry, who portrayed the clown Pennywise in the 1990 film adaptation of Stephen King's novel It and also starred in the second installment of Home Alone, has passed away.

According to TMZ, the actor died at his Los Angeles home late in the evening of August 25 after a long illness. He was 80 years old. In 2012, Curry suffered a massive stroke, which left him wheelchair-bound.

Tim Curry began his acting career in 1968 with the Royal Shakespeare Company in London. He gained widespread recognition for his leading role in the cult fantasy musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975).

His other notable credits include The Three Musketeers, Charlie's Angels, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, and Scary Movie 2.

The actor also worked in music and voiced characters in animated series such as The Wild Thornberrys, Aladdin, and Peter Pan and the Pirates.

After suffering a stroke, he regained his speech and continued working in voice acting.
