OpenAI and over 100 other companies call for protection against AI

More than 100 companies working in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), including Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, and Anthropic, have signed an open letter calling on all countries and organizations to strengthen their cybersecurity.

OpenAI and more than 100 other organizations have signed a letter calling for protection against artificial intelligence (AI) threats.

The letter’s authors say that these protections must be implemented before AI can outsmart them. Major companies such as Capital One, MasterCard, Visa, Oracle and IBM have also joined the call.

The letter notes that the number and sophistication of AI-powered cyberattacks is expected to increase in the coming months. The authors believe that current security measures will not be enough to combat these threats.

“We have limited time to improve cybersecurity,” they warn. In particular, the letter’s authors urge security systems to be improved using AI technologies. They call on governments to coordinate measures to strengthen cybersecurity, invest more in the industry and provide critical businesses with access to AI systems to protect against such attacks.

Recently, there have been a number of cases of AI agents going rogue during testing and hacking into other companies. According to reports, OpenAI's neural network hacked the Modal and Hugging Face platforms. Anthropic's Claude model also managed to illegally access data from three companies.
