At the event in Tashkent, KNAUF demonstrated in practice what determines the strength, sound insulation and fire resistance of curtains. Visitors tested various designs and saw that a plasterboard curtain is a system consisting of several elements.

When choosing a curtain, it is not enough to evaluate only the external material or price. Two walls with the same external appearance can differ in strength, sound insulation, fire resistance and the ability to carry heavy objects.
The KNAUF company demonstrated the reasons for this at the “Curtains: check it yourself” event, which took place on August 8-9 in Central Park in Tashkent.
Visitors examined the structures in cross-section, tested them for strength and checked their sound insulation. They were able to see that a drywall curtain is not a separate sheet, but a system consisting of a metal frame, several layers, fastening elements and insulation materials.
It is the combination of these elements and the quality of installation that determines the properties of the finished wall. With the right choice of system and fasteners, it is possible to install a TV, shelf, wardrobe and mirror on the curtain, as well as fix bicycles and other items.
“For each system, it is indicated what seismic load it is designed for, what level of sound insulation it provides and how long it can withstand the effects of fire. The customer can choose a system with the necessary characteristics,” said Shuhrat Abdujalilov, Commercial Director of KNAUF for Central Asia.
The structure should correspond to the function of the room. For example, a simple interroom wall and a curtain between a bedroom and a noisy hotel may require different levels of sound insulation.
