"Not a single classroom, not a single board." A deputy criticized the delay in equipping schools.
By the end of August, not a single one of the 1,000 computer labs envisaged by the state program had been installed in Uzbek schools, and not a single one of the 6,300 electronic boards had been purchased, a deputy stated. The head of the Uzbekistan Ministry of Children's and Youth Affairs attributed the delay to tenders and promised to complete the deliveries by the end of October.

On August 25, at a meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Minister of Preschool and School Education Ezozhon Karimova announced that by the end of October, schools in Uzbekistan will receive 1,350 computer labs and electronic boards.
This issue was raised during a discussion of the implementation of the state program within the framework of the "Uzbekistan 2030" strategy for the first half of 2026. MP Zukhriddin Mavlonov noted that 1,000 new computer labs and 6,300 electronic boards were planned for schools across the country by December.
According to him, the budget has allocated 350 billion soums for these purposes (100 billion soums for whiteboards and 250 billion soums for computer labs).
"The report notes that not a single new computer lab has been created or a single new electronic whiteboard purchased over the past period. There is only information that a tender has been announced," the deputy said.
He recalled that there was about a week left until the start of the new school year.
"Why haven't electronic whiteboards been installed or computer labs created in our schools yet? The funds have been allocated, those responsible have been identified, deadlines have been set, but to date, nothing has been accomplished," Mavlonov noted.
The deputy also asked whether the ministry would be able to complete the goal of creating 1,000 computer labs and supplying over 6,000 electronic whiteboards by the end of the year.
Responding to the question, Minister of Preschool and School Education Ezozhon Karimova stated that the state budget law allocates 250 billion soums for equipping schools with 1,000 computer labs in 2026.
"Based on the preliminary expert assessment, it was determined that these funds would be used to purchase 1,350 computer labs, not 1,000," the minister said.
According to her, the preliminary expert assessments have already been received, tenders have been announced, and government procurement will then take place.
Another 100 billion soums have been allocated for equipping schools with electronic whiteboards. The tender for their procurement was announced on July 12. However, a winner could not be determined, so the ministry announced a repeat tender on August 10.
"The winner selection process is scheduled for August 26. Once the winners are determined, all purchases will be completed. By the end of October, all designated computer lab sets and electronic boards will be fully delivered to our schools. We will meet the target set by the state program, meaning we will fulfill it," Karimova stated.
As of May 1, 2026, Wi-Fi zones are completely absent from 69% of schools, 5,000 computer labs are obsolete, and 2,000 schools have no such labs. In connection with this, the President ordered that measures be taken by 2030 to upgrade 16,000 computer labs, provide schools with free Wi-Fi zones, and increase internet speeds.
