Norway to provide $9.2 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine in 2027

Norway plans to provide $9.2 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine through 2027.
The Norwegian government plans to provide 85 billion Norwegian kroner, or about $9.2 billion, in financial assistance to Ukraine in the 2027 fiscal year. This amount is equal to the amount of assistance allocated in 2026. This was reported by Reuters.
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre visited Ukraine on Sunday, along with the leaders of the Nordic and Baltic states, and reaffirmed their support for Kiev in its ongoing war with Russia.
Støre, in a speech published by the government, emphasized that Norway's funds for Ukraine will be directed to cover military and humanitarian needs.
"Supporting and rebuilding Ukraine is not just aid. It is an investment in Europe's own security," the Norwegian prime minister said.
On Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine of “opening Pandora’s box” by striking Russian economic facilities.
He said Moscow would retaliate by striking Ukraine’s “most sensitive economic sectors.”
Meanwhile, Russia and Ukraine have stepped up drone attacks aimed at crippling each other’s economic infrastructure. The sides have often struck targets far from the front lines.
As the war, which was started by Russia, approaches its 4.5-year mark, attacks on economic infrastructure are escalating alongside clashes on the battlefield.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has said Moscow is ready to listen to new proposals for ending the war in Ukraine.
