No Violations: Employers in Uzbekistan Reminded of Employee Rights

The Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction has reminded employers of the importance of protecting their employees' personal data.

According to Article 178 of the Labor Code, employers have the right to store and use employee personal data only on lawful grounds.

In doing so, employers are required to strictly adhere to the following rules:

* not to transfer personal data to third parties without the employee's consent;

* not to use it for commercial purposes;

* to provide access to data only to authorized persons;

* to request information about the employee's health only to the extent necessary to perform their job duties;

* to provide employee representatives only with the information necessary to perform their duties.

The ministry emphasized that compliance with these requirements is aimed at ensuring the confidentiality of personal data and protecting employees' labor rights.
