No political breakthrough achieved in Trump-Xi talks
US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping discussed the issues of Taiwan, Iran, Ukraine, and artificial intelligence during talks at the White House. According to DW, although the parties demonstrated warm relations, they were unable to reach major political agreements.

On September 24, Trump hosted a solemn state dinner at the White House in honor of Xi Jinping. The event was also attended by representatives of major American technology companies, including Tesla head Elon Musk, Apple head Tim Cook, and OpenAI head Sam Altman.
In his speech, Trump paid special attention to personal ties between the US and China, saying that the two countries have never understood each other as well as they do now.
Xi Jinping, speaking in a much more restrained tone, emphasized that both countries must act as responsible great powers and find a new approach to mutual relations.
The Taiwan issue was also discussed during the bilateral talks held before the dinner. According to China's state news agency Xinhua, Xi Jinping called on the US to oppose Taiwan's independence.
According to DW, following his visit to China in May, Trump suspended the delivery of a nearly $14 billion weapons package to Taiwan, calling the issue a subject of negotiation.
Xi Jinping stated that in the context of the rapid development of artificial intelligence, this technology must always remain under human control.
According to sources cited in the report, despite the participation of technology sector representatives at the dinner, Trump is expected to maintain strict restrictions on the export of American technologies. China, on the other hand, is seeking to ease these restrictions.
The positions of the parties did not align on the war of the US and Israel against Iran either. Xi Jinping expressed his support for returning to a ceasefire regime.
The Ukraine issue was also on the agenda of the talks, but the report did not mention any concrete agreements reached in this direction.
