NGMK Mined 98 Tons of Gold and Expects to Increase Output by 30% by 2030
Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combinat (NGMK) produced 98 tons of gold at the end of 2025 and is among the world's largest producers of this precious metal. By 2030, the company plans to bring output to 125 tons per year — approximately 30% more than the current level. Such data is contained in an assessment by the international rating agency Fitch Ratings.
NGMK is of strategic importance to the economy of Uzbekistan. It accounts for more than 80% of gold production in the country. In addition, the combinat is among the largest taxpayers and employers. The state owns the company through the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
NGMK includes 12 large mining sites, seven plants, and two heap leaching shops.
The main asset of the combinat is the Muruntau deposit. It accounts for about 70% of gold production and more than 80% of the company's reserves. According to Fitch Ratings, the existing reserves of the deposit will last for about 25 years. The assessment of reserves of the remaining deposits according to the international JORC code is still ongoing.
To boost production, NGMK plans to expand the development of Muruntau and build an additional hydrometallurgical plant to process low-grade ores. The development program also includes the development of two new silver deposits and the creation of an enterprise for processing silver-bearing ores.
Thus, the combinat expects not only to increase gold production, but also to expand its raw material base and production capacities through the development of new deposits and the processing of ores with a lower metal content.
